On September 5–6, 2024, the 3rd International Scientific Congress of Belarusian Culture was held at the Centre for the Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Researches of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Scientists from Belarus, Russia and Turkmenistan made presentations at the congress. The Russian delegation was especially representative. It consisted of employees of universities, organizations of the Russian Academy of Sciences, branches of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, colleges and schools. The geographical spread of the participants is from St. Petersburg and Moscow to Yakutia.
The organizers of the Congress are the NAS of Belarus, the Centre for the Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Researches of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (Kandrat Krapiva Institute of Art History, Ethnography and Folklore).
Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Uladzimir Gusakow, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Humanities and Arts Aliaksandr Kavalienia, Director of the Centre for the Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Researches of the NAS of Belarus Aliaksandr Lakotka addressed the audience with welcoming speeches. Scientists and experts discussed such issues as: architecture and design; fine and decorative arts; film and video art; musical art; theatrical art; national culture and language; national literature; culture of the country's regions; culture of national communities; historical and cultural heritage, museums, nature reserves; traditional culture. A total of 140 reports were presented.
According to the organizers, the processes of globalization are currently underway in the world. How can national cultures preserve their identity and uniqueness in such a historical setting? For the Belarusian people, as a bearer of traditional values, it is very important to preserve continuity and connection with the spiritual values and traditions of the past in culture, creatively developing them. Therefore, the exchange of experience with colleagues from other countries in this matter is very valuable.
Following the results of the congress, a resolution will be issued with a systematic statement of the goals, objectives, prospects and main directions of state policy in the development of the national cultural space of Belarus. This document will reflect the system of national spiritual values, historical memory and cultivation of patriotism in the fields of culture, art and science.
