On September 23, 2024, the NAS of Belarus and the Vietnam Academy of Sciences and Technology (VAST) signed an agreement on scientific and technical cooperation. The document was signed by Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Uladzimir Gusakow and President of the Vietnam Academy of Sciences and Technologies Chau Van Minh. The ceremony was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Republic of Belarus Nguyen Van Nguy.
The agreement on scientific and technical cooperation between the NAS of Belarus and the VAST is aimed at strengthening the scientific and technical potentials of Belarus and Vietnam, developing and expanding relations between scientific institutions of the two countries, promoting scientific and technical cooperation in the practical implementation of joint scientific developments in areas of mutual interest. The main objectives of cooperation between scientists of the two countries are to create favorable conditions for the organization of joint research and development within the framework of agreed programs, commercialization of the results of joint activities in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Republic of Belarus and third countries, exchange of ideas, information and technologies, joint use of scientific infrastructure of both countries.
As Uladzimir Gusakow noted during the meeting, the NAS of Belarus and the Vietnam Academy of Sciences and Technologies have long-standing friendly and scientific ties and a stable partnership. The President of the Vietnam Academy of Sciences and Technologies, Chau Van Minh, is a foreign member of the NAS of Belarus. "But today we must integrate our institutes and scientific organizations more to intensify cooperation in the most priority areas of science development. These are: artificial intelligence, biotechnologies, electric transport, new materials, medical and space technologies, training of scientific personnel, etc.", Uladzimir Gusakow stressed. The Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus suggested that the Vietnamese partners in the near future develop an updated Roadmap for cooperation until 2030, including new directions and projects that will be of interest to Belarus and Vietnam.
In turn, the President of the Vietnam Academy of Sciences and Technologies, Chau Van Minh, noted that the Vietnamese side supports the proposal to develop an updated Roadmap for cooperation until 2030 and stressed that the new Agreement on Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the NAS of Belarus and the VAST opens up new opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation between scientists of Vietnam and Belarus and will contribute to the expansion of ties between scientists from two countries.
A cooperation agreement was signed between the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research and the Vietnam Academy of Sciences and Technologies. The document was signed by the President of the Vietnam Academy of Sciences and Technologies, Chau Van Minh, and the Chairman of the BRFFR Scientific Council, Academician Aliaksej Dajnieka.
An official ceremony was held to award members of the VAST delegation for the development of fruitful international cooperation between scientists of the NAS of Belarus and VAST. Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Uladzimir Gusakow presented the Grand Medal of the NAS of Belarus to the President of the Vietnam Academy of Sciences and Technologies Chau Van Minh. The members of the delegation were awarded Certificates of Honor of the NAS of Belarus and a special badge Day of the NAS of Belarus. In turn, a large group of scientists from the NAS of Belarus was given the awards of the Vietnam Academy of Sciences and Technologies.
On September 23, 2024, the leadership of the NAS of Belarus held talks with a delegation of the Vietnam Academy of Sciences and Technologies headed by President Chau Van Minh. Promising areas and mechanisms for expanding cooperation between the NAS of Belarus and the VAST were discussed, as well as the implementation of the Roadmap for the development of cooperation between the organizations of the NAS of Belarus and the VAST for 2023–2025 and the competition of joint projects between the NAS of Belarus and the VAST. The guests got acquainted in detail with the latest developments of scientists, which are presented at the permanent exhibition ‘Achievements of National Science for Production’. During the visit, members of the VAST delegation visited a number of scientific organizations of the NAS of Belarus.
