Cooperation agreement signed by the academies of sciences of Belarus and Tatarstan

On October 1, 2024, a Cooperation Agreement between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan was signed at the NAS of Belarus. The document was signed by Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Uladzimir Gusakow and President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan Rifkat Minnikhanov.

The updated Cooperation Agreement between the NAS of Belarus and the AS of the Republic of Tatarstan is aimed at establishing long-term strategic partnerships in order to make the most effective use of the scientific, industrial and innovative potential of the two academies, to achieve maximum synergetic effect from the coordination of activities and integration of intellectual resources. The strategic partnership of scientists from Belarus and Tatarstan involves coordinating actions and combining the efforts of Belarus and Tatarstan in the field of scientific, technical and educational activities. The parties agreed to develop various forms of cooperation in the field of scientific and educational activities. Among them there are organization of joint research programs, scientific and technical expertise of projects involving specialists from two academies, review of scientific articles, monographs; exchange of information on the results of scientific research and of educational and methodological materials, joint publications, etc.

As Uladzimir Gusakow noted during the meeting, the NAS of Belarus and the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan have long-standing friendly and scientific ties. "The Russian Federation is our main priority and strategic partner. We are ready to discuss comprehensive cooperation on a wide range of issues. The NAS of Belarus and the Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan have a Roadmap for cooperation for 2023–2024. But today we must work out a new Roadmap for the future, until 2030, in priority areas of science. The new Roadmap should be rich and full. These can be joint projects in such areas as wood chemistry and petrochemistry, mechanical engineering, instrument engineering, and economics," Uladzimir Gusakow stressed.

In turn, President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan Rifkat Minnikhanov noted that Tatarstan supports this proposal and is ready to consider joint projects of mutual interest. Thus, Tatarstan scientists are ready to actively develop, together with their Belarusian colleagues, the topic of studying and preserving the common historical and cultural heritage of the peoples of the two countries.

On October 1, 2024, the leadership of the NAS of Belarus held talks with a delegation of scientific and educational circles of the Republic of Tatarstan headed by President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan Rifkat Minnikhanov. Promising areas and mechanisms of joint scientific and technical activities were discussed. The guests got acquainted in detail with the latest developments of scientists, which are presented at the permanent exhibition ‘Achievements of National Science for Production’. The program of the visit includes visits to a number of scientific organizations of the NAS of Belarus.
