On October 29–30, 2024, the Youth in Science 2024 21st International Scientific Conference of Young Scientists was held at the NAS of Belarus. The conference was attended by representatives from academic organizations and universities of Belarus, Russia, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey. A record 600 participants and 23 scientific sections were announced in the conference program.
Uladzimir Gusakow, Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus, emphasized in his welcoming speech: "This conference is the largest event in the Republic of Belarus aimed at exchanging scientific knowledge and achievements among young scientists, as well as strengthening interdisciplinary ties and developing international scientific and technical cooperation. It is a basic platform for the interaction of young scientists from organizations that are members of the International Association of Academies of Sciences (IAAS), which unites 27 academies and major scientific centres from different countries, designed to strengthen scientific cooperation to address issues of preservation and development of national scientific and technological spaces, integration of national academies of sciences and higher education."
Andrej Ivaniets, Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus, Corresponding Member of the NAS of Belarus, spoke at the conference. He noted: "I want to say that the most precious thing that every scientist has is time. Today you are young scientists, so you can set the most daring and ambitious tasks. Set them, because youth is the time when there is a right to make a mistake and time to fix it, to do it right. The uniqueness of this site lies in the fact that researchers in almost all areas of science gather here, and it is in communication, in an interdisciplinary search, that the most outstanding new results come."
Stanislaw Juretski, chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of the NAS of Belarus, told reporters that every third researcher at the Academy of Sciences is a young scientist. "The conference is traditional. More than 70% of its participants are young scientists of the Academy of Sciences, but there are many representatives of the country's higher education institutions, and, of course, foreign guests. Member organizations of the International Association of Academies of Sciences are represented at the forum. I would like to note separately that for the first time scientists from Mongolia came to the forum, who will take part in the plenary session and present reports at the sections," Stanislaw Juretski said. He stressed that for young scientists, the conference is the first step into adult science, an opportunity to express themselves during speeches, as well as to publish a report in a generalizing collection (in total, it contains about 600 works).
During the days of the conference, on October 29–31, 2024, young scientists presented the results of research in agricultural, biological, medical, humanitarian, physico-technical, physico-mathematical, chemical and geological directions.
At the end of the forum, the best speakers were awarded diplomas and valuable prizes.
After the end of the conference, on November 1, The Way to Science international forum of scientific youth was held, where young scientists learned about the procedures for certifying highly qualified scientists and the possibilities of financing youth scientific projects in Belarus and abroad.
The purpose of the Youth in Science international scientific conference of young scientists is to stimulate scientific, technical, innovative potential and to present projects and scientific developments of young scientists, as well as to exchange experience and opinions on a wide range of scientific issues. The conference is organized by the Council of Young Scientists of the NAS of Belarus.
