On January 29, 2025, the State Scientific Institution "Physics and Technology Institute of the NAS of Belarus" opened a new Research and Production Site for High-Temperature Vacuum Heat Treatment. The ceremony was attended by Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov, First Deputy Chairman of Minsk City Executive Committee Nadezhda Lazarevich, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Physical and Technical Sciences Sergei Shcherbakov, heads of organizations of the Department of Physical and Technical Sciences, employees of the Institute, and invited guests.
As Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS Vladimir Gusakov noted, in the five-year quality plan the Head of State sets the task of increasing the reliability and quality of all products manufactured in Belarus, including in mechanical engineering. And the new section of the institute will contribute to this. "Everything that the Physics and Technology Institute of the NAS does, is aimed at improving the quality and reliability of our mechanical engineering. Parts, mechanisms, units - they must be reliable and durable. And this can only be achieved thanks to such unique installations that are based on the new research and production site. Such work is necessary so that Belarusian products are in demand and are competitive on the world market," Vladimir Gusakov emphasized.
The creation of a research and production site is the result of the accumulated experience and successful work of a team of scientists and specialists from the Physics and Technology Institute of the NAS of Belarus with the financial support of the Innovation Fund of Minsk City Executive Committee. The goal of the new project is to strengthen the interaction between science and production, and to develop the scientific and technological potential of the competence centers of the innovative and technological cluster of industrial technologies of Akademtekhnograd.
The site is fitted with the main and auxiliary equipment necessary for the implementation of full-fledged industrial technologies, and is intended for the demonstration and development of technologies for vacuum heat treatment of metal and alloy products in the interests of mechanical engineering enterprises. The equipment complex has a high degree of automation of technological processes and implements virtually all types of modern highly efficient vacuum heat treatment, such as carburizing, nitrocarburizing, hardening, annealing, tempering in a vacuum or inerting gas environment.
The development of vacuum high-temperature strengthening technologies will enable domestic enterprises to increase production efficiency with a reduction in cost and an increase in product quality, reduce the risk of making incorrect technical decisions when implementing innovative projects for the re-equipment and modernization of production, and provide specialists with access to modern technologies when creating new products.
