A meeting on the Union State programs was held at the NAS of Belarus

On February 6, 2025, a meeting was held at the NAS of Belarus with the participation of the State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev and representatives of the ministries and establishments of the Republic of Belarus - state customers of the programs and events of the Union State.

As the State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev noted before the start of the meeting, 78 programs have now been implemented in the Union State for a total amount of over 60 billion Russian rubles, and it is very important that these results are included in the general integration framework, and the money is spent wisely, for the benefit of national economies. The Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov emphasized that the implementation of the relevant programs helped both Belarus and Russia to significantly strengthen the scientific base. Today we are talking about the formation of a single, not even scientific and technological, but scientific and innovative space of both states in various fields, including space, materials science, and the development of supercomputers. At the moment, according to him, a joint program in microelectronics is being prepared. The First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus, Academician Sergei Chizhik, emphasized that today, under new challenges, it is important for scientists from both countries to determine promising areas for future developments. Traditionally, priority is given to those that are capable of leading technology in general and developing the economy in various areas. Previously, such scientific vectors were space and developments in computer technology, today the emphasis should be on artificial intelligence. The academician does not deny that in the future, an allied program in AI may also appear.

Dmitry Mezentsev and the Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov addressed the meeting participants with welcoming speech. The event summed up the results of the implementation of programs, events and the development of budget funds of the Union State in 2024, and also reviewed the progress of preparing issues planned for submission to the Council of Ministers of the Union State in 2025. During the meeting, the progress of implementing 18 programs and 7 events of the Union State in the areas of defense, security, law enforcement, defense-industrial and military-technical cooperation, social policy and economics was reviewed.
