On March 13, 2025, a meeting of the coordinating council of the innovative and industrial cluster "Micro-, opto- and microwave electronics" was held at JSC “Minsk SRI of Radio Materials” of the NAS of Belarus under the management of the Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov. Leading scientists and specialists of the country took part in its work: heads and representatives of JSC “Integral”, JSC “Planar”, JSC “Minsk SRI of Radio Materials”, SSPA “Optics, Optoelectronics and Laser Technology”, scientific organizations of the NAS of Belarus, BSU, BNTU and BSUIR. The meeting discussed the tasks that the country's microelectronic industry enterprises are setting for academic organizations and universities with the aim of planning them in the new five-year plan. Thus, the promising scientific tasks of JSC “INTEGRAL”, the development of new designs, technologies and materials based on GaN for power and microwave electronics, and the expansion of the innovative industrial cluster “Micro-, opto- and microwave electronics” were considered.
Opening the meeting, Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov noted that today the development of microelectronics is one of the main priorities of our country's development. This is what the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko is aiming scientists at. Work is currently underway to implement the Program “Development of the Microelectronic Industry of the Republic of Belarus up to 2030”, which contains a number of measures to improve and modernize microelectronic production facilities operating in the Republic of Belarus. It was emphasized that today, in the context of strict international restrictions and the breakdown of cooperation ties, scientists from the NAS of Belarus and leading universities of our country must work in close cooperation with manufacturing enterprises.
The departments of the NAS of Belarus have been instructed to prepare proposals for scientific support of promising work in the interests of enterprises subordinate to the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Belarus. The Institute of Physics of the NAS of Belarus has been instructed to organize work on the development of a growth base for nitride heterostructures within the framework of an industry laboratory. The accession of 9 new scientific organizations to the Agreement on the establishment and operation of the innovative industrial cluster "Micro-, Opto- and Microwave Electronics" was approved: the United Institute of Informatics Problems of the NAS of Belarus, A. Lykov Institute of Heat and Mass Transfer of the NAS of Belarus, the Physics and Technology Institute of the NAS of Belarus, the Institute of Applied Physics of the NAS of Belarus, State Enterprise "Radio Engineering Center of the NAS of Belarus", the Institute of Chemistry of New Materials of the NAS of Belarus, the Institute of Mathematics of the NAS of Belarus, State Enterprise "CLOT NAS of Belarus", and the State Scientific Institution "Joint Institute for Power and Nuclear Research - Sosny".
The coordinating council noted that the expansion of the cluster and the involvement of new manufacturing enterprises, scientific organizations and universities will not only preserve domestic scientific schools in micro- and nanoelectronics, electronic and optoelectronic instrumentation and mechanical engineering, but also successfully develop in these areas.
At a meeting of the coordinating council, BSUIR and JSC “Minsk SRI of Radio Materials” signed a cooperation agreement.
The innovative industrial cluster "Micro-, opto- and microwave electronics" was created in 2017. It included organizations of the NAS of Belarus, JSC "Integral", JSC "Planar", JSC "SRI of Radio Materials", as well as universities - BSU, BNTU and BSUIR. The cluster was created to expand cooperation between scientists and the production sector and jointly carry out scientific research, experimental design developments, as well as organize the production of advanced and competitive microelectronics products.
