Delegation of the NAS of Belarus visited St. Petersburg branch of RAS
On March 18-20, 2025, a delegation of the NAS of Belarus consisting of Academician - Secretary of the Department of Physics, Mathematics and Informatics of the NAS of Belarus Alexander Shumilin, Director of the Institute of Physics of the NAS of Belarus Sergei Gaponenko and Director of the Institute of Applied Physics of the NAS of Belarus Mikhail Kheifets visited St. Petersburg branch of Russian Academy of Sciences.
A meeting was held with the management of St. Petersburg branch of RAS and its chairman, Academician of RAS Andrei Rudskoy. The prospects for expanding cooperation with organizations of the NAS of Belarus in such areas as artificial intelligence, mechanical engineering, non-destructive testing, additive technologies, quality management, physics, microelectronics, and biotechnology were discussed. The delegation members visited a number of institutes and departments of Peter the Great Polytechnic University in St. Petersburg. Among them were the supercomputer center “Polytechnic”, the advanced engineering school Digital Engineering, and the scientific and educational space “TVEL-SPbPU”. The Roadmap for Cooperation between the NAS of Belarus and SPbPU organizations was discussed.
The delegation of the NAS of Belarus took part in the ceremonial meeting of St. Petersburg Branch of RAS dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding scientist, Nobel Prize laureate Zhores Alferov, a foreign member of the NAS of Belarus.
