Delegation of the NAS of Belarus laid flowers at the eternal flame in the memorial complex Khatyn
March 22 is the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Khatyn Tragedy. On March 22, 2025, a delegation of the NAS of Belarus led by the Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov honored the memory of the victims of the tragedy and laid flowers at the eternal flame in the memorial complex Khatyn. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Chairmen of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus, academician secretaries of departments of science, heads of scientific organizations of the NAS of Belarus and structural divisions, representatives of the trade union, Belarusian Union of Women, and young scientists.
On March 22, 1943, the Nazis and their accomplices shot and burned almost all the inhabitants of the village - 149 people, including 75 children. The Nazis sentenced the innocent people of the village to death. Miraculously, one adult and five children survived. On the site of the village, in memory of the victims, a memorial complex "Khatyn" was created.
