The NAS of Belarus held a meeting of the working group on the development of an artificial intelligence draft law

On March 26, 2025, a meeting of the working group on the development of an artificial intelligence draft law on was held at the NAS of Belarus under the management of Vladimir Gusakov, Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus. Experts discussed key issues of AI development and legislative regulation.

As Vladimir Gusakov noted when opening the meeting: "We are on the threshold of countless possibilities of artificial intelligence. And therefore this sphere needs legislative regulation - taking into account both the risks and threats, and the enormous advantages of AI." The head of the NAS of Belarus noted that a corresponding model law is already being developed within the CIS. It is also needed directly for Belarus: "The law is very necessary to regulate all relations. Since cybercrime is already manifesting in this area, there are other manifestations. I am convinced that the law should motivate and stimulate the development of artificial intelligence. This also concerns the use of artificial intelligence in a number of industries. We must talk about the risks and threats, and the enormous advantages that AI brings us. In fact, today we are on the threshold of countless possibilities of artificial intelligence."

A number of important issues were discussed at a meeting of the working group on the development of the draft law on artificial intelligence. Sergei Kruglikov, Director General of the UIPI of the NAS of Belarus, reported on the development of AI technologies in Belarus. Sergey Kasanin, Deputy Director General for Research at the UIPI NAS of Belarus, spoke about the work on the draft model law "On Artificial Intelligence Technologies". Sberbank's experience in developing AI projects was presented by Alexandra Rusetskaya, Executive Director of JSC “Sber Bank”. Sergey Kruglikov and members of the working group made proposals for developing the bill. Work on the draft law will continue.
