On April 22, 2025, the NAS of Belarus signed an Agreement on Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the St. Petersburg Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences. The document was signed by First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Sergei Chizhik and Chairman of St. Petersburg Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences Andrei Rudskoy.
The agreement on scientific and technical cooperation between the NAS of Belarus and SPb Branch of RAS is aimed at expanding joint fundamental and applied scientific research and development in the most important areas of development of science and technology, as well as creating conditions for the progress of scientific schools, training highly qualified researchers, improving the qualifications of scientists and specialists of the NAS of Belarus and SPb Branch of RAS, as well as the implementation of joint projects. The partnership between scientists from the NAS of Belarus and SPb Branch of RAS involves coordination of actions and unification of efforts in the field of scientific, scientific-technical and educational activities. The parties agreed to develop various forms of cooperation, including: commercialization of the results of joint research activities; organization of mutually beneficial international contacts in science and technology; joint participation in applications for national and international grants; organization of programs for the education and training of highly qualified scientific personnel; holding joint international conferences, symposia and seminars to popularize the achievements of scientists from Belarus and Russia, etc.
On April 22, 2025, negotiations were held between the management of the NAS of Belarus and the delegation of the St. Petersburg branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences headed by the rector of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Chairman of St. Petersburg branch of RAS Andrei Rudskoy, Vice President of RAS. During the negotiations, promising areas and mechanisms for joint scientific and technical activities were discussed. An agreement was reached that a Roadmap for implementing the Agreement and expanding cooperation between scientists will be developed in the near future. Among the areas of mutual interest are: physics and engineering sciences, biology, medicine for life, pharmacology, research in Antarctica, etc.
On April 21-24, 2025, a delegation of St. Petersburg branch of RAS is visiting the NAS of Belarus. The guests were thoroughly acquainted with the latest developments of scientists, which are presented at the permanent exhibition "Achievements of Domestic Science - to Production". The program of the visit includes an attendance to a number of scientific organizations: State Scientific Institution "B. Stepanov Institute of Physics of the NAS of Belarus", State Scientific Institution "Institute of Applied Physics of the NAS of Belarus", State Scientific Institution "Institute of Powder Metallurgy named after Academician O. Roman".
