On April 25, 2025, a session of the General Assembly of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus was held. It was attended by about 400 representatives of academic, university and industry science, heads of national government bodies, and well-known scientists. The event was attended by the Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Ivanets, the Chairman of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Guchok, the First Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Belarus Yuri Gorbich and other distinguished guests.
The Chief Scientific Secretary of the NAS of Belarus Vasily Gursky presented a report on the activities of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in 2024 and the tasks for 2025. The First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus, Academician Sergei Chizhik, presented a report on amendments to the Charter of the NAS of Belarus.
As Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov noted before the session of the General Assembly, scientists of the Academy of Sciences work in many areas. Last year, at least 300 scientific developments were implemented in various sectors of Belarusian economy; they were used in specialized industrial enterprises, in agriculture, in healthcare, and the list of topics is not exhaustive. For systematization, 12 fundamental research programs were formed, within the framework of which a group of priorities was compiled. Thus, according to the head of the Academy of Sciences, recently the sphere of scientific interests of Belarusian specialists has increasingly affected the field of microelectronics, where the latest transistors are created and laser devices are improved.
After the reports, 16 people took part in the debate: academicians, corresponding members, heads of scientific organizations, and leading scientists of the country. Each presentation included proposals for improving activities in priority areas of scientific development, and also provided an assessment of the activities of the NAS of Belarus. The scientific community has identified the main directions of prospective development for 2025.
Following the results of the session, the draft Resolution of the General Meeting "On the results of scientific, scientific-technical and innovative activities of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in 2024 and tasks for 2025" was adopted as a basis.
In general, the draft Resolution "On Amending the Charter of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus" was adopted.
For high achievements in scientific work, the best scientists were awarded prizes from the NAS of Belarus, the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus.
An exhibition of the latest achievements of the NAS of Belarus organizations was organized for the session participants. Humanitarian scientists presented an exposition of new book editions and archaeological finds.
