Dear colleagues!
On behalf of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and on my own behalf, I congratulate you on Labor Day!
This day is celebrated in different countries and unites millions of people around the world. It has become a symbol of social justice and freedom, a call for solidarity.
In our country, it is a bright symbol of the unity of the people and the state, attention to the aspirations of each person. This year, May 1 takes on a special meaning. After all, conscientious work, glorification of the working person are the key directions of the five-year plan of quality that has begun and the declared Year of Improvement.
During meetings with labor collectives, our President Alexander Lukashenko has repeatedly emphasized that the country's achievements are made up of everyone's contribution: "The country's successes are always collective work. It was, it is, and it will be." And today in Belarus all roads are open to those who are ready to work and produce results.
Scientists have always been able to work productively for the benefit of society. The Academy of Sciences has made and makes a significant contribution to the social and economic development of the country, annually increasing the volume of work on scientific and scientific-technical activities. Belarusian researchers successfully work in many areas of scientific research. With the help of the latest scientific achievements, Belarus ensures the solution of priority tasks. Thus, close interaction of academic, university and industry science gives results that are in demand in industry, agriculture, medicine, education, and many other areas of social development.
On the eve of May 1, the best workers are honored all over the country. One of the most visible forms is the Honor Board, where the best teams and workers are listed. The Academy of Sciences carefully preserves this tradition.
I would like to express my gratitude to all the employees of the NAS of Belarus for their productive work, dedication to science and desire to conquer new heights. Let this holiday motivate everyone to new achievements.
I wish the employees of the Academy of Sciences good health, well-being, and creative success. May the work and its results bring joy!
Vladimir GUSAKOV,
Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus, Academicianbr>
