On May 2, 2025, the NAS of Belarus together with the National Press Center of the Republic of Belarus held a visting press event for Belarusian media with an attendance of the Central Botanical Garden of the NAS of Belarus. The topic of the event: "New recreational opportunities of the Botanical Garden for residents and guests of the capital."
Pavel Bely, Scientific Secretary of the Central Botanical Garden of the NAS of Belarus, heads of laboratories Natalia Belousova and Tamara Shpitalnaya, curators of plant collections, and employees of the CBG spoke about new areas of activity of the unique natural site and the latest results of the scientists’ work. New opportunities for visitors were presented this season. Journalists visited a number of new iconic sites. Among them is the Victory Glade, which is constantly being updated and will be supplemented with new elements by the Victory Day. Of particular interest was the new exhibition "Japanese Garden", which opened at the end of April this year. The territory was decorated with an entrance gate-torii in the oriental style, a pergola with a bench and a traditional tea pavilion. Last autumn, the exhibition was decorated with a water cascade. This object organically complemented the appearance of the Japanese garden. Daffodils and ornamental apple trees are already blooming in the garden, you can visit the nursery of rare perennial plants and admire the collection of lilacs, of which there are about 270 varieties in the garden. At present, coniferous, landscape Japanese and other expositions are actively functioning in the CBG of the NAS of Belarus, and new territories are being developed.
The Central Botanical Garden of the NAS of Belarus is the largest center in the country for the conservation of biodiversity of living plants, a leading scientific institution in introduction, acclimatization, physiology, molecular biology, biotechnology, biochemistry and ecology of plants. Research and practical work in plant introduction has ensured the creation of a gene pool of ornamental and economically useful introduced plants of more than 15 thousand names, which constitutes the national heritage of the Republic of Belarus.
