Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2026 from Vladimir Karanik, Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus

Dear colleagues! Dear friends!

2025 has come to an end, marking another eventful chapter in our modern history. For the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, it was marked by numerous significant achievements and new partnerships, opening up new prospects and avenues for qualitative improvement.

The President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has paid significant attention to the work of domestic science, demonstrating the importance of our field of activity for the development of the state and society. We are facing a lot of challenging but exciting creative work, and each of you has a unique opportunity to be involved in shaping the future of Belarusian science, without which technological sovereignty, a functioning economy, and social prosperity are unthinkable.

This year, the country celebrated the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory over the Nazi invaders. In honor of this memorable date, scientists from the NAS of Belarus organized large-scale events aimed at strengthening the spiritual and cultural unity of the Belarusian people. Humanities scholars played a significant role in these initiatives, serving not only as organizers of major international forums but also as authors of new monographic studies dedicated to the heroism, courage, and bravery of the fiery generation.

Academic scientists have been actively studying the nature of artificial intelligence, its prospects and possible risks. The rapid development of IT technologies has demonstrated the need to respond quickly to innovations, assess their potential, and apply them to the benefit of the domestic economy. Important areas of work included the creation of new satellites, the development of complex industrial components, formulas for medicines and fertilizers, and the continuation of research in Antarctica.

Thanks to the joint efforts of agricultural scientists and production specialists, high results in agriculture have been achieved even in challenging climatic conditions.

It is gratifying that the future of Russian science – our young scientists – are not only demonstrating worthy results, but are also opening up new horizons and promising areas for the development of both theoretical and applied research in physical, technical, and chemical sciences. Thank you for your talent, enthusiasm and boundless energy that delight, inspire and serve as an example to us all.

Dear friends! I sincerely thank each of you for your fruitful work and contribution to our common cause. On behalf of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and myself, I wish you a Happy New Year 2026 and a Merry Christmas!

May the outgoing year take with it all worries and anxieties, and may the coming year bring only positive emotions and a good mood!

May your health be strong, and may creative ideas inspire you to new achievements for the benefit of your country!

Peace and prosperity to our beloved Belarus!

Happy holiday to you, dear friends!

Vladimir KARANIK,
Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus
