Ecology and Nature Management: The NAS of Belarus is intensifying cooperation with Russia's Arkhangelsk Region
Today, a working meeting was held at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus between Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Alexei Trukhanov and Minister of Science, Higher Education, and Scientific and Technological Development of Arkhangelsk Region of Russia Alexei Aksyonov.
During the meeting, promising areas of bilateral scientific and technical cooperation, as well as the implementation of joint projects, including in ecology and environmental management were discussed. Specifically, negotiations focused on genetic and selective forest restoration, the production of sorbents based on raw materials from peat deposits in Arkhangelsk Region, plant genome modification to enhance productivity and improve consumer characteristics, and research into the level of microplastic pollution.
The Academy of Sciences was represented at the meeting by Academician-Secretary of the Department of Biological Sciences Oleg Baranov and Director of the Institute of Nature Management Sergei Lysenko.
Arkhangelsk Region delegation is visiting Minsk from March 11 to 13. Their itinerary includes a visit to the permanent academic exhibition "Achievements of Domestic Science for Production" and industrial enterprises, as well as the sixth meeting of the Working Group on Cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and Arkhangelsk Region.
