The International Scientific and Practical Conference “30 Years of the Commonwealth of Independent States: Results and Prospects” will be held on September 28–29 at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
This was announced at a press conference by the Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus and Head of the International Association of Academies of Sciences (IAAS), Academician Vladimir Gusakov.
It is expected that more than 300 representatives of government bodies, CIS institutions, leading scientists and experts, and heads of major scientific and educational organizations from a number of countries will take part in the conference events. These include delegations from Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of CIS bodies.
The conference program includes plenary sessions at the NAS of Belarus (September 28) and at the CIS Executive Committee (September 29). Sectional meetings will take place in the afternoon of September 28.
At the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus, sections titled “Economic Cooperation, Humanitarian Collaboration, and Improvement of the Legislative Framework of CIS Member States” and “Science and Innovation Cooperation among CIS Member States” will be held.
At the Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, a section titled “Current Issues in Epidemiology in CIS Member States: Fundamental and Clinical Aspects” will take place.
At the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus, a section on “Cooperation among CIS Member States in the Field of Security, Combating Crime and Terrorism” will be held.
At the United Institute of Informatics Problems of the NAS of Belarus, a subsection on “Scientific and Technical Cooperation in the Field of Space Exploration” will be held.
“The 34th meeting of the IAAS Council will be organized in coordination with the conference and will take place on September 28 in the afternoon. Delegations from a number of IAAS member organizations, headed by their leaders, will take part in it,” Vladimir Gusakov added.
According to him, participation—also via videoconference—has been confirmed by presidents and representatives of the leadership of national academies of sciences of CIS member states, the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts, the National Research Centre “Kurchatov Institute” (Russia), the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (Russia), the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and several provincial academies of sciences of China (Guangdong, Heilongjiang, Jiangxi, and Shandong).
The press conference titled “On the Celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the CIS in Minsk: International Scientific and Practical Conference, the 34th Meeting of the Council of the International Association of Academies of Sciences (IAAS), and the Meeting of the IAAS Council of Young Scientists” was held on September 22, 2021, at the National Press Center of the Republic of Belarus.
The event was attended by Vladimir G. Gusakov, Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus and Head of the IAAS, Academician; Pyotr A. Vityaz, Head of the NAS of Belarus Office and Deputy Head of the IAAS, Academician; and Andrei I. Ivanets, Chief Scientific Secretary of the NAS of Belarus, Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of the NAS of Belarus, Doctor of Chemical Sciences.
