The NAS of Belarus and Oman have agreed to hold a competition for joint research projects
The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Sultanate of Oman's Research and Innovation Authority will sign a cooperation agreement and hold a competition for joint research projects. This was discussed today at a meeting between Sergei Shcherbakov, Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus, and Dr. Saif Abdullah Al-Haddabi, Chairman of Oman Research and Innovation Authority.
Sergey Shcherbakov emphasized that the Academy of Sciences is interested in developing mutually beneficial scientific and technical cooperation with Oman. Priority areas of mutual interest include artificial intelligence, robotics, biotechnology, water desalination, wastewater treatment, mechanical engineering, and agriculture. Incidentally, these priorities will form the basis of the cooperation agreement. Among the most significant projects, the Omani side highlighted the creation of a robot for harvesting dates—one of the most important and difficult-to-harvest agricultural crops not only in Oman but throughout the region.
The visit of Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Sergei Shcherbakov as part of the Belarusian delegation headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov to Muscat (Sultanate of Oman) will take place from April 1 to 2, 2026.
