The NAS of Belarus and the Institute of Optics and Electronic Information of China plan to open a joint laboratory
The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Institute of Optics and Electronic Information of China plan to open a joint laboratory as part of the global Belt and Road Initiative. This was discussed today at a meeting between Vitaly Zalessky, First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus, and Zhu Xiao, Professor at the Institute of Optics and Electronic Information of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for bilateral scientific and technical cooperation, including in combined materials processing technologies and the potential for synergy between laser technologies and magnetic pulse processing, which opens new horizons for the creation of high-tech products. The discussion also focused on joint participation in a competition of flagship Belarusian-Chinese scientific and technical projects and in a major specialized exhibition in optics and electronics, which will be held in May 2026 in Wuhan.
All cooperation agreements between Huazhong University of Science and Technology and the Institute of Physics and Technology of the NAS of Belarus formed the basis of a protocol signed following a meeting between Igor Smyaglikov, Deputy Director for Research at the Institute of Physics and Technology of the NAS of Belarus, and Zhu Xiao, Professor at the Institute of Optics and Electronic Information Science of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China.
