Academy of Sciences staff joined the national cleanup day
Vladimir Karanik and staff of the Academy of Sciences contributed to the beautification of the capital during the national cleanup day.
As usual, in addition to tidying up their work areas, the NAS team worked on transforming the Botanical Garden. The staff cleared the area of fallen leaves, dry branches, and household waste, and also beautified it by planting beautiful flowering shrubs and garden roses.
"Today began with a large-scale cleanup and tidying up of the Botanical Garden—a place so beloved by Minsk residents and visitors, a true gem of the city and a valuable scientific center. It's gratifying that our country maintains the tradition of cleanup days. For me, this is more than just a cleanup. It's a sign of concern for my hometown and the country as a whole, an indicator of civic engagement and commitment," said Vladimir Karanik.
He also noted that such events not only help maintain the cleanliness and beauty of the city, but also foster a sense of respect for nature and work.
"When we work together, a wonderful sense of unity arises. And when you see the results of your labor, you are truly delighted to see how our native Belarus is becoming even more beautiful and better," said the head of the Academy of Sciences.
The Botanical Garden is the country's largest center for the conservation of living plant biodiversity and a leading scientific institution in plant introduction, acclimatization, physiology, biochemistry, biotechnology, plant ecology, and environmental protection. It is among the largest botanical gardens in Europe both in terms of area (93 hectares) and the composition of its plant collections (over 15,000 species).
