The Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus turns 95

The Academy of Sciences held an international scientific conference dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Opening the event, Vasily Gursky, Chief Scientific Secretary of the NAS of Belarus, read welcoming words from Vladimir Karanik, Chairman of the Presidium.

"Founded back in 1931, the Research Institute of Economics of the Belarusian Academy of Sciences brought together leading experts to conduct detailed analysis and develop practical solutions to the most pressing challenges facing the national economy," the statement reads. "This legacy has been carried forward for nine and a half decades, and today the Institute remains a key scientific and methodological center, combining fundamental research and applied analysis on pressing issues of the national and global economy."

Vladimir Karanik noted that the Institute's scientists actively participated in the development of the concept of a socially oriented market economy model for Belarus, and that theoretical and applied research in macroeconomic regulation and economic policy formed the basis for key government decisions.

"The Institute's work is particularly relevant in the context of a fundamental transformation of the global economy and the principles of international cooperation, when the demand for developing innovative solutions to overcome global challenges is growing exponentially," the head of the Academy of Sciences emphasized.

He also noted that the institution's expert work is in demand at all levels—from scientific discussions to the practical implementation of economic policy across the country, individual regions, and industries.
