Academician Anatoly Mikhailov passed away at the age of 90
Today, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus held a farewell ceremony for a man whose name became synonymous with an entire era in domestic radiation diagnostics – Academician Anatoly Mikhailov, who died at the age of 90 on August 14, 2026.
Anatoly Mikhailov's career in medicine began in 1961 as a common radiologist in Gomel.
For almost half a century – since 1977 – he has been the permanent head of the Department of Radiology, setting the standards for modern medical imaging.
Anatoly Mikhailov's greatest achievement was his school. He trained a whole generation of followers: under his careful guidance, dozens of candidates and doctors of science emerged, who today continue his work in the country's healthcare institutions.
The academician's achievements were highly recognized by the state: he was a laureate of the State Prize, a recipient of Francysk Skaryna Medal, and a recipient of the honorary title of "Honored Scientist."
