Samokhvalovichi has created a unique ampelographic collection comprising 550 grape varieties from 25 countries.
In addition to the vineyards, the greenhouse housing exotic crops invariably attracts attention. Here, in protected soil conditions, figs, persimmons, kiwis, passion fruits, and pawpaws successfully bear fruit.
The institute also demonstrates success in intensive horticulture: for example, the nursery department is studying columnar apple trees, which produce high yields even when planted very densely.
Berry growers are not lagging behind – the institute's specialists have already presented the first Belarusian day-neutral strawberry variety.
For those who want to see the results of the scientists' work firsthand, the institute has prepared a packed program: on September 4, it will host "Grape Day," an exhibition and fair, and on September 5-6, the institute's achievements will be presented at the Science Festival at the Central Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
