The Chairman of the Presidium congratulated students and teachers on the holiday.
He noted that September 1st is a joyful and exciting day for all students, but especially for first-graders, who are discovering the amazing world of knowledge and new discoveries for the first time.
"Today at the lyceum, as in many other educational institutions across our country, there's a special atmosphere—the first day of the school year. And it's palpable. Look at the first-graders, just trying on their business style, and you'll see a whole range of emotions in their eyes: excitement, joy, anxiety, and curiosity. They're taking their very first, most important steps in life into the great world of knowledge," said Vladimir Karanik. "The eleventh-graders are a completely different story. You can see a slight sadness in their eyes, because for them, this assembly is the final one before the journey into adulthood."
The head of the Academy of Sciences also noted that the lyceum brought together the best of the best—those who had proven their right to study at this institution by passing a rigorous competitive selection process, demonstrating their talents and abilities, as well as their perseverance and ability to achieve their goals.

Following the ceremonial assembly, the head of the Academy of Sciences took part in the opening of the Biological Research Laboratory and also gave an open-mic lecture for 10th- and 11th-grade students.
