About 50,000 people visited the Science Festival in Minsk
Around 50,000 Minsk residents and visitors attended the Science Festival held at the Central Botanical Garden on September 5–6. Vladimir Karanik, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, nformed about this today at a working meeting.
"Despite the capricious and changeable September weather—alternating between rain, sunshine, and gusty winds—the country’s largest popular science event drew significant interest from Minsk residents and visitors to the capital. This year, the Science Festival attracted an impressive crowd of around 50,000 people," said the head of the Academy of Sciences.
He also noted that the decision to expand the festival to two days and increase the number of interactive zones proved to be highly successful and the right move: the event became not only a scientific and educational platform but also a popular destination for family leisure.
It is worth noting that the "Intelligent Technologies" zone was particularly popular with visitors of all ages. A large-scale robotics tournament took place there, featuring competitions across five disciplines where participants piloted drones and high-tech models.
For the first time, the festival program included evening activities that were highly acclaimed by the audience. Guests enjoyed spectacular science shows, a performance by the physical theater group "Superposition," and a grand fireworks finale.
"We have chosen the right direction and will continue to develop the festival, making it even grander and more spectacular with each passing year. Our goal is to strike a delicate balance between the scientific component and the entertainment program, which was a hit with everyone who visited our event at the Central Botanical Garden," emphasized Vladimir Karanik.
