NASB Centre for Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research hosts International scientific conference “The Belarusian language in the 21st century: main trends of development” on October 28-29, 2015

On October 28-29, 2015 the NASB Centre for Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research hosted the international scientific conference “The Belarusian language in the 21st century: main trends of development” (dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Academician A.Podluzhny).
The conference involved linguists from Belarus, Poland, Russia and Ukraine. The opening of the conference included speeches by Academician-Secretary of NASB Department of Humanities and Arts Alexander Kovalenya, Director of the NASB Centre for Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research Alexander Lokotko and the scientist’s relatives and friends.
The Centre’s Vice-Director for Science Alexander Lukashanets, Head of the Centre’s Modern Belarusian Language Division Valentsina Rusak, Head of Speech Recognition and Synthesis Laboratory of the NASB United Institute of Informatics Problems Yuri Getsevich gave reports at the plenary session.
The conference included four sections. The speakers stressed the considerable contribution of Academician Podluzhny to the development of Belarusian linguistics, discussed the problems of modern Belarusian language science.
