Results of NAS of Belarus delegation visit to Romania

The delegation of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus headed by the First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Sergei Chizhik visited Bucharest (Romania) to participate in the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the Romanian Academy (3-6 April 2016). During the visit negotiations with the leadership of the Romanian Academy on perspective directions and mechanisms for increased the Belarusian-Romanian scientific and technological cooperation and presentation of the scientific and technical development of the NAS of Belarus were held by the delegation of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The results of mutually beneficial cooperation and the possible directions of its expansion were also discussed with the heads of leading research centers, including the Academies of Sciences, a number of European countries that took part in the celebrations. The President of Romania Klaus Johannis, the Prime Minister of Romania Dacian Ciolos, the Crown Princess Margareta of Romania, the Minister of Education and Research of Romania Adrian Curaj and others met with representatives of the management of foreign academies of sciences.

Collaboration of the NAS of Belarus with the Romanian Academy is based on the Agreement on scientific cooperation signed in September 2008, as well as on the Agreement on cooperation between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research and the Romanian Academy, concluded in September 2009. Since signing the Agreements four joint competitions were held and 29 projects were financed according BRFFR line. These projects cover various areas: from mathematics and physics to the science of man and society. Currently, 18 projects submitted for the fourth joint competition are subject to state scientific expertise. The B.I.Stepanov Institute of Physics of the NAS of Belarus, the Scientific and Practical Materials Research Center of the NAS of Belarus, the Institute for Fruit Growing of the NAS of Belarus, the Institute of Philosophy of the NAS of Belarus were most active for participation in the competitions.
