Minsk to host ALLEA Council meeting 20-21 June 2016

On June 20, 2016 (Monday) at 15.00 the opening of the meeting of the Council of the Federation of All European Academies (ALLEA) will take place in the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (Nezavisimosti Ave., 66). Attending the meeting, which will be held in Minsk 21 – 22 June 2016, will be ALLEA President Gunter Stock and members of the council — representatives of the Academies of Sciences of Germany, Austria, the UK, Italy, Belgium, Finland, Switzerland and other countries. The meeting will consider issues related to the organization of scientific activity in Europe, the formation of the Pan-European research space and also new areas of cooperation between the NAS of Belarus and the European scientific organizations.

The agreement on holding in Minsk ALLEA Council meeting on June 2016 was reached during the NASB delegation meeting with the President of the Federation of All European Academies (ALLEA) Gunter Stock at the session of ALLEA General Assembly in Lisbon on April 23-24, 2015.

ALLEA, the Federation of All European Academies currently brings together 58 Academies of Sciences and Arts in more than 40 countries (including Belarus). ALLEA is the most influential association of scientific organizations in the European space. The Association pursues the objective of information and experience exchange between the Academies of Sciences, promote the establishment and maintenance of high standards of scientific research and scientific expertise. The main areas of ALLEA work are organizing events for establishing the Pan-European research space, intellectual property protection, covering issues and trends of development of science in the media, scientific ethics, as well as management of scientific and technical sector.
