On September 7, 2016 at 11:00 the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library of the NAS of Belarus will host a solemn event on occasion of receiving gift of books from the Academic Library of the University of Latvia which is one of the oldest libraries in Europe.

One can find books on history, science, culture, ethnography, linguistics, archeology, architecture, etc. among the editions.

Within the event a presentation of the exhibition "Belarus and Latvia: Dialogue between the Two Cultures" will be held. Representatives of the Republic of Latvia Embassy in the Republic of Belarus will participate in the opening ceremony of the exhibition.

Guests can learn about the most interesting documents from the NASB Central Scientific Library fund in the "Belarusian Printing in Latvia. The Inter-War Period" section, which will demonstrate rare editions of the Belarusian minority in Latvia of this period.

In addition, the exhibition will present books on features of development and historical parallels of the Latvian and Belarusian ethnic groups, history and prospects of education development, literary interconnections, etc.

The exposition will be supplemented by modern collections of materials of international forums, scientific and practical conferences on issues of the Belarusian-Latvian contacts. The presented literature demonstrates relationship between the two cultures which are an integral part of the European culture.

The event will be held at the Information and Exhibition Center of the NASB Central Scientific Library (Surganov street, 15, first floor, room 110).
