On 19 September 2017, a press conference on promising directions for the machine-building industry development in the Republic of Belarus, and new developments and achievements of the Belarusian scientists was held at the National Press Center of the Republic of Belarus. The event was dedicated to the Machine Builder's Day. It was attended by Sergei N. Poddubko, Director General of the Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, and Nikolai G. Yankevich, Director General of the Optron Instrument-Making Plant.

The heads of the NASB organizations told about the latest scientific developments in the field of mechanical engineering and answered numerous questions of journalists.

The first Belarusian electric car and electric bicycle were exhibited on the site near the Minsk Concert Hall.
