Sergei Chizhik, First Vice Chairman of the NASB Presidium, visited Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang province (PRC). He took part in a number of scientific forums and negotiations there.

Sergei Chizhik also had a meeting with Guo Chunjing, President of the Heilongjiang Academy of Sciences. The officials discussed possible entry of the Chinese colleagues into the International Association of Academies of Sciences and looked into possibility of establishing a union of the Belarusian and Chinese scientists.

Sergei Chizhik also held talks with the Head of Heilongjiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences and discussed the prospects for cooperation in agriculture and technology.

Vice Mayor of Harbin expressed interest in the Belarusian experience in growing flax and increasing its yield. It is planned that the Belarusian colleagues will provide expert support in this matter.
