At the exhibition venue of the Institute of Forest of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, a Scientific and Practical Conference on Perspective Directions and Mechanisms of Cooperation in Science and Technologies was held. The conference gathered about 120 experts. It discussed current scientific issues related to development of remote Earth sensing and space research, materials science, environmental management, new technologies for industrial production, etc.
Sergei Chizhik, First Vice Chairman of the NASB Presidium, welcomed the conference participants and expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation with Ukrainian colleagues. According to Alexander Kovalevich, Director of the NASB Institute of Forest, Belarus continues to develop cooperation with Ukrainian colleagues on forestry. The issues of genetics and breeding are also relevant for the two countries. Belarus is interested in southern plant cultures that can adapt to the conditions of a changing climate.
During the conference, three agreements on scientific and technical cooperation were signed by the NASB Institute of Forest and G.M. Vysotsky Ukrainian Research Institute of Forestry and Agroforestry; V.A.Biely Metal-Polymer Research Institute of the NAS of Belarus and the Azbokhim Ltd. (Sumy, Ukraine); the NASB Institute of Forest and the Belbiograd Science and Technology Park of the NAS of Belarus.
The conference also provided the exhibition of scientific developments.
