Chairman of NASB Presidium Vladimir G. Gusakov congratulates on 90th anniversary of National Academy of Sciences of Belarus

Dear colleagues! Dear friends!

On behalf of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and on my own behalf, I congratulate you on the 90th anniversary of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus!

The birth, formation and development of the Academy coincided with the determinant events in the national history, which left a deep imprint on the life and fate of the Belarusian people. Since its creation, the Academy became the leading scientific research center, uniting the best scientists of our country. Having traveled a long way, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus made an important contribution to the development of the national economy and culture. In some areas, it contributed much to the development of the world science. During the NASB 90-year history, authoritative scientific schools with international recognition have been formed here.

The history of the National Academy of Sciences is the history of discoveries, inventions and breakthroughs, painstaking scientific research and the latest developments in all areas of modern scientific knowledge. At the time of its establishment, the staff of the Academy of Sciences was only 128 people, 87 of them being researchers. Today, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is a large research and production corporation which unites centers, institutes, pilot productions and experimental bases generating and producing high-tech products. It consists of 113 organizations which are legal entities, including 60 scientific institutions. The highly qualified personnel has always been and remains the main resource and intellectual capital of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The staff of the Academy of Sciences includes more than 16,000 specialists. About 8,000 of them are engaged in scientific research and developments. There are more than 400 Doctors of Sciences and over 1,700 Candidates of Sciences, 124 Corresponding Members and 84 Academicians in the organizations of the NAS of Belarus. From 300 to 350 young scientists come to the Academy of Sciences annualy. The international cooperation is actively developing. Cooperation treaties and agreements have been signed between the NAS of Belarus and other Academies of Sciences and scientific centers from almost 90 countries worldwide.

It is important to emphasize that since its foundation, the Belarusian Academy of Sciences has always been productive, meeting the spirit of the times and international standards. Today, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is actively involved in the implementation of large-scale projects and programs of a nationwide scale.

The development of the National Academy of Sciences is seriously supported by our State and President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander G. Lukashenko personally. After all, the main task of Belarusian scientists is to contribute to the prosperity of our country, the building of an innovative society, the formation of “smart economy”, and the growth of competitiveness of domestic production.
