NAS of Belarus and Alferov Foundation announce winners of competition for young scientists in 2018

The Bureau of the NASB Presidium has resolved to award Prizes of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Foundation for Education and Science (Alferov Foundation) for young scientists in 2018.

The Prize in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physical, Engineering and Technical Sciences has been awarded to Kirill Mikitchuk, Senior Researcher of the State Scientific and Production Association “Optics, Optoelectronics and Laser Technology”, Candidate of Physics and Mathematics, for his research work “Ultra-High-Frequency Optoelectronic Generators with Ultra-Low Phase Noise for Radar Systems.”

The Prize in Biology, Chemistry, Medicine, Agriculture and Earth Sciences has been awarded to Tatyana Plisko, Senior Researcher of the State Scientific Institution “Institute of Physical and Organic Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus”, Candidate of Chemistry, for her research work “New Methods for Producing Polymer Membranes for Ultrafiltration, Gas Separation and Pervaporation.”

The Prize in Humanities and Social Sciences has been awarded to Anastasia Bobrova, Head of the Department of the State Scientific Institution “Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus”, Candidate of Economics, for her research work “A New Paradigm of Management of Social and Demographic Processes.”

All the laureates will be presented diplomas on the eve of the Belarusian Science Day. In each nomination, the Prize in Belarusian rubles is equivalent to $ 2.5 thousand. In 2018, the competition was held for the fifth time. According to the Regulations, one author or a group of authors consisting of no more than three people may participate in the competition. Scientific works are assessed by the Commission on the Prizes of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, which includes reputable scientists.

The Prize of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Alferov Foundation was established on 5 June 2014 in order to encourage young (up to 35 years old) Belarusian scientists. It is awarded for scientific works and inventions, which are of great importance for basic and applied science.
