NAS of Belarus awards Prizes of 2018

The Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus summed up the results of the competition for the prizes of the NAS of Belarus in 2018. The NASB Commission on Prizes decided to award five prizes of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, two prizes in the field of Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, and Physical and Technical Sciences; and three prizes in the field of Biology, Chemistry, Medicine, Agrarian and Earth Sciences. The size of the prize is 250 base values.

The NAS of Belarus Prizes 2018 in the field of Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, and Physical and Technical Sciences have been awarded to the following teams of scientists:

Alexander V. Konkolovich, Researcher of the State Scientific Institution "B.I. Stepanov Institute of Physics of the NAS of Belarus"; Valery A. Loyko, Professor of the Military Academy of the Republic of Belarus, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics; Alexander A. Miskevich, Senior Researcher of the State Scientific Institution "B.I. Stepanov Institute of Physics of the NAS of Belarus", Candidate of Physics and Mathematics. The team is awarded for the cycle of works "Development of Methods and Algorithms of Light Scattering and Absorption Analysis in Ordered Dispersed Structures for Optimizing the Characteristics of Photonic Crystals, Liquid Crystals, Optical Coatings and Solar Cells;"
Sergey N. Bukharov, Head of a sector of the State Scientific Institution "V.A.Biely Metal-Polymer Research Institute of the NAS of Belarus", Candidate of Technical Sciences; Andrei Ya. Grigoriev, Director of the State Scientific Institution "V.A.Biely Metal-Polymer Research Institute of the NAS of Belarus", Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor; Vladimir P. Sergienko, Head of a Department of the State Scientific Institution "V.A.Biely Metal-Polymer Research Institute of the NAS of Belarus", Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor. The team is awarded for the cycle of works "Development and Introduction of New Methods, Composite Materials and Technologies that Provide Noise and Vibration Reduction in Transport Vehicles and Process Equipment."

The NAS of Belarus Prizes 2018 in the field of Biology, Chemistry, Medicine, Agrarian Sciences and Earth Sciences have been awarded to the following teams of scientists:
Emilia I. Kolomiets, Director General of the State Scientific and Production Amalgamation "Chemical Synthesis and Biotechnologies", Director of the State Scientific Institution "Institute of Microbiology of the NAS of Belarus", Corresponding Member, Doctor of Biology, Professor; Tatiana V. Romanovskaya, Leading Researcher of the State Scientific Institution "Institute of Microbiology of the NAS of Belarus", Candidate of Biology; Natalia V. Sverchkova, Deputy Director of the State Scientific Institution "Institute of Microbiology of the NAS of Belarus", Candidate of Biology. The team is awarded for the cycle of works “Probiotics Based on Bacteria of the Bacillus Genus for Animal Husbandry and Industrial Fish Farming: Production and Use Technologies”;
Mikhail A. Gerasimenko, Director of the State Institution "Republican Scientific and Practical Center of Traumatology and Orthopedics", Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor; Yevgeny V. Zhuk, Associate Professor of the Traumatology and Orthopedics Department of the Belarusian State Medical University, Candidate of Medical Sciences; Stanislav I. Tretyak, Head of the Children's Trauma and Orthopedic Department of the 6th City Clinical Hospital, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor. The team is awarded for the cycle of works "Modern Technologies for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Knee Joint Pathology in Pediatric and Young Patients";
Vitaly V. Lapa, Director of the Republican Scientific Subsidiary Unitary Enterprise "Institute for Soil Science and Agrochemistry", Academician, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor; Tatiana N. Azarenok, Head of a sector of the Republican Scientific Subsidiary Unitary Enterprise "Institute for Soil Science and Agrochemistry", Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor; Leonid I. Shibut, Leading Researcher of the Republican Scientific Subsidiary Unitary Enterprise "Institute for Soil Science and Agrochemistry", Candidate of Agricultural Sciences. The team is awarded for the cycle of works "Soils of the Republic of Belarus at the Present Stage: Morphology, Properties, and Qualitative Assessment."

The NAS of Belarus Prizes were established to support those domestic scientists, whose scientific works were recognized in the Republic of Belarus and abroad, had a significant impact on the implementation of state programs, contributed to the development of innovation activities, increase of the country's economy efficiency, ensuring food security, solution of environmental and health problems. Their establishment also aimed at stimulating creative activity and promoting the professional growth of young scientists. The competition for the Prizes of the NAS of Belarus has become annual since 2017.
