Belarus and Turkey sign roadmap of scientific cooperation until 2021

The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) have signed a roadmap of cooperation for 2019-2021. The document was signed by Chairman of the NASB Presidium Academician Vladimir Gusakov and Minister of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey Mustafa Varank in Ankara on 16 April.

Belarusian and Turkish scientists will work in the scientific and technical areas of mutual interest. These include space monitoring of the Earth's surface and space monitoring of the Earth's surface, batteries for electric cars and other vehicles, composite organic-mineral materials and minerals processing, new materials, use of information technology for forecasting hazardous natural phenomena.

The roadmap of the NAS of Belarus and TUBITAK envisages a joint contest of science and technology projects in the areas defined during the seminars in Gebze (17 December 2018) and Minsk (25 March 2019). The document also provides for events to develop and improve the organization and enhance the efficiency of joint activities in science, joint projects between the Belarusian Foundation for Fundamental Research and TUBITAK, cooperation in training scientific personnel.

Nowadays, the cooperation in science is based on the agreement between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) signed in 2002 and the agreement on scientific cooperation between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Turkish Academy of Sciences signed in 2009. According to Belarusian and Turkish scientists, the roadmap will help intensify mutually beneficial work.

A memorandum of understanding between the NAS of Belarus and the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey was also signed in Ankara on 16 April to set up scientific and technical cooperation in Antarctica.
