Contact of spheres with taking account of damage and change in mechanical properties in surface layer. pp. 163--169
Summary: The approach, which allows to model a contact of friction pairs taking into account damages accumulation and change of physico-mechanical properties in coating or in surface layer of contacting bodies, is offered in this article. Change of the contact area characteristics of two spheres with different radius is investigated by modified Herz problem. Obtained results indicate on the change of contact conditions. The developed model permits to predict the reliability, durability and beginning of the friction contact pairs destruction.

System analysis in tribological tests. pp. 178--186
Summary: A system analysis in tribotests has been accomplished to identify the effect of the environment on the rubbing members of a system and the effect of noise on the reproducibility of the test data. The analysis has lead to a concept of a system of tribological tests (STT) covering the most important friction units and the methods of their studies. Efficient devices have been developed for tribotests of materials with the implementation of the STT. A multipurpose microprocessor control system has allowed to computerize the tribotests.

Structure and friction of modified cross-linked polyimides. pp. 187--193
Summary: The influence of the chemical structure and the size of intercross-link fragment of the network polyimide on friction and wear of the antifriction coatings have been investigated. Better tribological properties have been obtained by introduction of linear pyromellitimide into the network structure and by conservation of optimal quantity of double bonds of the maleimide cycle.

Wear resistance of diffusion boron-suicide coatings. pp. 235--240
Summary: A method of boron siliconizing in moving alloying mixtures and evaluation of wear resistance of boron-silicide coatings are described. Results of wear testing of the coatings at dry friction and at rubbing against fixed abrasive are presented. The optimum powder compositions for boron siliconizing are proposed providing the highest wear resistance. A relationship has been established between the wear rate and silicon concentration in the boron-silicide layer. The phase composition, structure and behavior of the diffusion zone are shown to affect wear resistance of the layer.
