Thermoelastic contact problems for cylindrical and spherical sliding bearings. pp. 347--457

Summary: The approximate solutions of thermoelastic contact problems for cylindrical and spherical bearings of sliding with deformable bushes are obtained. It is supposed that bearings are heated up owing to generation of heat in the contact region from forces of Coulomb's friction though forces of friction are not taken into account at definition of contact pressure. The operating mode of bearings was investigated established in time.

Stress field caused by Hertz's pressure in nonuniform half-plane with periodic structure. pp. 358--366

Summary: The stress field produced by a rigid long cylinder in elastic layered half-space with periodic structure is investigated in case of a two-dimensional contact problem. The decision of the classical problem of the theory of elasticity was compared with the decision of the problem for homogenized medium which mechanical properties take into account the mechanical and geometrical properties of layers forming a cell of periodicity of non-uniform half-space.

Role of non-elastic phenomena at friction of solids. pp. 367--374

Summary: On the basis of literary data and own research the effect of relaxation internal friction on formation of temperature dependences of external friction and wear was analyzed. It was shown that the relaxation peak of internal friction is responsible for a maximum on temperature dependence of friction force and minimum of wear. The forced vibration in tribosystem subjected to action of the external periodical force was illustrated by the example of fretting. The solution of the standard differential equation of the theory of vibrations allows one to determine elastic and viscous (dissipative) components of friction force.

Analysis of wear particle shape by the Fourier descriptors. pp. 375--384

Summary: The problems on description, analysis, and classification of wear particle shape by the Fourier descriptors were considered. The contours of particles extracted from lubricant operating in friction units of different mechanisms were used as an initial data. The methods of comparison of particles in shape, estimation of their similarity measure, determination of shape of average representative of particle sample and their classification were developed. The research showed that the Fourier descriptors form a full system of shape features and the analysis results agree well with visual estimation of similarity/dissimilarity of particles. The developed methods may be used at solution of the diagnostics problems of friction units based on morphology of wear particles.

Nano-indentation of thin carbon coatings containing titanium by the method of atomic force microscopy. pp. 385--390

Summary: The method of nano-indentation was realized on the basis of the atomic force microscope (AFM). Application of the method to an estimation of the elasticity modulus of carbon thin coatings alloyed by titanium (Tix% -- DLC) depending on percentage of the titanium is shown. Depth of indenter penetration did not exceed 50--80 nanometers at thickness of coatings about 1 micrometer. It is shown that the increase in concentration of the titanium (from 18 % up to 50 mass. %) results in formation of more advanced topography with distinct anisotropy, to reduction of the of elasticity modulus of coatings (from 515 GPa up to 70 GPa), thus the friction coefficient increases from 0.38 up to 0.61.

Increase of wear resistance of the steel surface layer by modifiers of friction at rolling with sliding. pp. 391--396

Summary: Effect of the activated metal surface on adaptation of boundary adsorption layers by a lubricant at frequent start - stops was considered. The dependence of linear wear of contact surfaces on preliminary softening of surface layers was established at the first alternating cycles of operating time. Introduction of fullerene C60 and MoS2 in base oil I-40 raises the wear resistance of St45 due to formation of boundary layers; given this, the effect of the normal and tangential components of friction forces decreases that is shown in reduction of zone of strain hardening of near-surface layers.

Research of effect of additives of mezogene substances on adhesive properties of paraffins by the method of microadhesiometery. pp. 397--401

Summary: The method of microadhesiometery is used for an estimation of adhesive ability of ski ointments alloyed by mezogene substances. The opportunity of decrease in adhesive activity of ski ointment was established at the certain concentration of mezogene additive. It was proposed to use mezogene substances for decrease in adhesion of ski ointments to snow.

Tribological activity of additives-dyes -- mezogenes of discotic type. pp. 402--406

Summary: Comparative tribological tests of water solutions of four substances of the dyes, two of which are derivatives of phthalocyanine and two others have non-discotic heterocyclic structure, were carried out with the purpose of their use as lubricant-cooling agent for metal cutting. The results of the experiment were interpreted in a context of molecular structure of additives; the hypothesis on type of supermolecular organization of the boundary lubricant layer formed by discotic mezogene and its roles in friction is set up.

Wear and shear stability of black-reinforced plastics based on ultrahigh-molecular polythene. pp. 407--411

Summary: It was shown that the basic structural characteristic determining wear is shear stability of polymeric matrix. This criterion is true both for fatigue and abrasive wear. Introduction in polymer of short fibers with rather smooth surface creates close-packed interface areas which are deformed by the shear, raising thus shear stability of binding of black-reinforced plastics and reducing their wear.

Effect of processing regimes on properties of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) containing diamond. pp. 416--419

Summary: For abrasive composites based on PTFE and natural diamond powders, the physical-mechanical, strength, tribological, and operational characteristics were determined depending on the conditions of their processing. It was established that the compacting pressure and the sintering temperature are the main technological parameters determining the quality and the highest values of all studied characteristics of composites containing diamond (CCD) as well as of the PTFE-based tool. It was shown that the temperature above the full melting point of crystallites is required to manufacture the PTFE-based tool with the highest serviceability. The sintering temperature above 370 °C results in decrease in mass wear by 40 % and to increase of diamond rate by 20 %. On the basis of the received data the technological regimes of processing of PTFE-based CCD, which allow one to produce the effective and qualitative diamond tool with exact geometrical parameters, were well founded.

Effect of aluminum on wear resistance and formation of secondary structure of cast composites of Fe--Cr--Cu--C system at sliding friction. pp. 420--427

Summary: Effect of aluminum on initial structure of cast composites (CC) of Fe--Cr--Cu--C system, as well as on their wear resistance and formation of secondary structure under conditions of dry friction and boundary lubrication is investigated. Minimal sliding wear of CC is observed at the minimal content of aluminum. It was established that in this case the secondary structure of CC contains 40 % of g-phase, the maximal microdistortions of II and III kinds and the maximal density of dislocations in y-phase are observed. At the minimal wear under boundary lubrication the secondary structure of CC contains 70 % of g-phase, the maximal value of microdistortions of II sorts and the maximal value of density of dislocation in a y-phase are observed.

Creation of an antifriction surface by jet-abrasive processing. pp. 428--433

Summary: This paper proposes the method of experimental determination of impact velocity of abrasive particles at formation of lubricating micropockets by jet-abrasive processing on depth of the print left on a control plate which rotates about the axis with the set angular velocity. The step of MP is determined by the given concentration of abrasive particles in a plane of an arrangement of a processable surface and reached by adjustable swirl of a pneumoabrasive jet in technological nozzle. The subsequent filling in MP with an antifric-tional material allows one to create its stock on all service life of a detail.

Tribological characteristics of the matrix-alumina composites strengthened with nano-fillers. pp. 446--450

Summary: Composite materials on the basis of the aluminum alloys strengthened with ceramic panicles (SiC, B4C) and nano-dimensional intermetallic phases were made by moulding with mixing up of particles in melt or in the processes in-situ. Frictional properties and wear resistance of non-reinforced Al-alloys and matrix-alumina composites are investigated under conditions of a sliding friction without a lubricant. It was established that an introduction of discrete reinforcers in matrixes expands an interval of the permissible loads and sliding velocities. The maximum effective growth of wear and scuffing resistance is characteristic for the composites containing large (» 28 um) SiC particles and nano-reinforcers.
