The influence of 40 bp long (AC)n sequence on the expression of a cat gene of E.coli. pp. 28--31

Summary: The influence of 40 bp long (AC)n sequence on the expression of cat gene in E. coli was investigated. The (AC)n sequence was found to modulate gene expression in a similar way in prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Insertion of sequence (AC)20 after the gene leads to an increase in expression in prokaryotes as well as in eukaryotes. The increase in expression depends upon the presence of an active promoter before the gene. It was also found that (AC)n sequence possesses a weak promoter function in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Probably, the influence of (AC)n sequence on gene expression is similar in this organisms.

Changes of the antioxidant contents in greening barley seedlings under porphyrinogenesis conditions induced by Cs+. pp. 40--44

Summary: Accumulation of active oxygen species (AOS), change of the ascorbic acid (AsA), tocopherol (Toc) and glutalhione amounts in greening barley leaves accumulating uroporphyrinogen III (UROgen), uroporphyrin III (URO) and the inactive protochlorophyllide (Pchlide) have been investigated. The Cs+ cations were used as inducers of porphyrinogenesis. The AOS and antioxidants amounts increased in leaves accumulating URO and Pchlide. Decreasing the antioxidants amounts especially AsA and Toc observed at these conditions. It was proposed that decrease of photodynamic effect which observed in leaves containing URO and Pchlide is due to of using antioxidants without recovering their pools. Peculiarities of AOS accumulation and change of the AsA and Toc amounts arc discussed.

The influence of plant grown conditions on formation of chloroplasts multifunctional complex. pp. 45--50

Summary: The distributions of chlorophylls (Chl) and the total protein over the multifunctional complexes isolated from barley chloroplasts treated with digitonin was studied with polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The plants were grown under various irradiance or various temperature. The distributions were different for plants grown under various conditions. The ratios of Chl a/Chl b, protochlorophyllide/Chl, and Chl/protein for the multifunctional complexes were also dependent on an environment. The plants grown at low temperature were different in the Chl distributions from the plants grown at high temperature as well as the plants grown under high irradiance were different from the plants grown under low irradiance. The involvement of phosphorylation of chloroplast proteins in the plant adaptation to environmental factors is discussed.

Ultrastructuctural organisation and functional activity of higher differentiated astrocytes of guinea pigs under conditions of persistent measles infection. pp. 59--63

Summary: Qualitative and quantitative morphological and ultrastructural investigation of the primary astrocytes cultures of guinea pigs in the condition of the persistent infection on 3-d and 120-th days of postinfection in vitro was made. It was revealed, that immature nucleocapsids absent virions bud in the intercellular space. It was observed, that activity of the astrocytes was accompanied by the lowering of the manifestation of the CPE, the decrease of the number of the RNP, the increase of the production of the GFAP in the outlying of the astrocytes, the accumulation of the phagosomes. Simultaneously a 1.5-2 fold increase of the number of the active phagocytes effected by the measles virus was observed. The role of the astroglia in the SSPE phatogenese is discussed. The worked out model system it is suggested to be used for further research of astroglia immunobiological properties.

Age-related peculiarities of irradiation action on lipid peroxidation of blood of rats. pp. 68--69

Summary: The experiments have shown that the small doses of external and internal irradiation cause not always clear changes in the state of lipid peroxidation system. The observed activation of the antioxidant system in the blood serum of 2-month old rats in early terms (10 days) possibly supports the invariable level of lipid peroxidation products. In 6-month rats, on the contrary, the activation of antioxidant system was not registered, however the contents of malondialdehyde increases in the blood serum. Possibly, in 2-month rats the combined radiation influence at early terms stimulates the defence systems of the organism in higher degree than that in 6-month old ones.

Age-related differences in NO-dependent vasodilatation caused by carbachol after short term and prolonged low dose g-radiation exposure. pp. 74--76

Summary: The vasodilatation in the isolated preparations of thoracic aorta after stimulation of M-cholinoreceptors by carbachol were studied. Vasodilatation responses caused by carbachol were similar in young and adult rats, but were significantly reduced in senile rats. Directionality and degree of vasodilatation responses after exposure to g-radiation depended on animal age and radiation dose. Postexposure changes were maximal after prolonged g-radiation exposure in young rats. In adult rats short-term g-exposure was followed by increase of the endothelium-dependent aorta relaxation, while prolonged exposure caused a decline vasodilatation responses. In senile rats aorta vasodilatation caused by carbachol was not effected by short-term g-radiation exposure, but was significantly decreased after prolonged exposure. It is suggested that age-related differences of NO-dependent blood vessels tonus control after g-radiation exposure may be due to the different endotheliocytes sensitivity lo radiation, reparative and antioxidant potential of the organism exposed to g-radiation at different ontogenetic stages.

Role of white connective branches of embryos of human and animals in sympathetic tube structure and configuration development. pp. 91--94

Summary: Data related with the development of white connective branches linked together spinal sympathetic center and sympathetic tube were presented. The attention turned to the role of mentioned branches in formation of sympathetic tube structure and configuration. It was shown that there were plenty of white connective branches of down jugular and upper pectoral spinal nerves of embryos of human and investigated animals (calf, pig). They participate in sympathetic tube hypothecation and became look like of cranial going ones. Taking into consideration directions of tubes in jugular part of sympathetic tube it was supposed that observed white connective branches could be the ways of brain vascular innervation. In other words, the kranial, expanded part of spinal sympathetic center is the additional nervous center reaching the cerebrum. Recent investigation is the new element working out in the laboratory of problems of organ innervation.

The condition of termoregulation processes in the dynamic of adjuvant hyperthermia. pp. 95--99

Summary: Differences in the heat production and loss balance in the dynamics of the temperature response to Freund's complete adjuvant (FCA) in rats, guinea pigs. and rabbits were found. In the initial febrile phase of the response to FCA the increase in deep body temperature is related to the activation of thermogenesis and inhibition of heat loss. while in the subfebrile phase only the decrease in heat loss is significant in the pathogenesis of hyperthermia.

The effect of bacterial lipopolysaccharide and a-1 antitripsin on body temperature and oxygen consumption in rats at early postnatal ontogenesis. pp. 100--102

Summary: Effects of bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and a-1 antitrypsin (AAT) on body temperature and oxygen consumption in 1-, 6- and 10-day old rats were studied. LPS (500 µg/kg) and AAT (10 mg/kg) were found to raise body temperature and increase metabolism in 6- and 10-day old rats. like it happens in adult animals. In 1-day old rats, there was a decrease in body temperature, despite a considerable increase in oxygen consumption. It is suggested that by 6 postnatal days the animals possess fairly developed thermoregulatory mechanisms, allowing them to adequately respond to LPS and AAT.

The action of dwelling conditions on soil invertebrate species inhabiting the spruce forests of Bialowieza Forest. pp. 125--130

Summary: The both invertebrates species inhabiting in the taiga zone and those dwelling in the mixed and broad-leaved forest zone are occured in spruce forests situatied in the Belovezhskaja Pushcha. However, the share of the latter is much smaller here than in spruce forests of the mixed forest zone. On the whole, the soil fauna of spruce forests of the Belovezhskaja Pushcha is richer and more diverse than that of the taiga zone but the dominance structure of invertebrate communities is similar to that of the southern taiga subzone. The small number of saprophagous living in mineral soil leyers cause low humus contence in depth soil levels and podzolforming procces.
