Summary: 7-years research results of Vaccinium vitis-idaea L. cultivars Erntendank, Erntekrone, Erntesegen, Koralle and Masovia fruiting were presented. All 2--3 year old stage cultivar begin fruiting. The most cropped cultivator was Koralle.

Nitrogen exchange peculiarities of spring barley differing on productivity. pp. 22--32.

Summary: In field condition on soad-podzolic loamy soil spring barley cultivar Zazersky-85 were revealed to be characterized much more height efficiency of nitrogen during vegetation, intensive including of nitrogen to protein and height productivity of protein during vegetation period. Carbon-nitrogen metabolism analysis indicate height provision of protein by chlorophyll for well producing sowings on initial stage of vegetation.

The indicators of hybrid progeny fertility of secondary potato dihaploids. pp. 45--52.

Summary: It has been ahown that flowering intensity and pollen quantity in hybrid progeny of fertile secondary potato dihaploids are rather high. At the same time the level of pollen functional fertility in more than half of hybrids analyzed was lower the suitable for the hybridization threshold (5% of pollen grains germinated in vitro). The low pollen functional fertility is evidently one of the main factors limiting effective application of potato breeding at the diploid level.

New records of aquatic hyphomycetes from Belarus. pp. 53--56.

Summary: Seven species of aquatic hyphomycetes (Alatospora pulchella, Dimorphospora foliicola, Lemonniera filiformis, Lunulospora curvula, Porocladium aquaticum, Tricladium splendens, Varicosporium tricladiiforme) are reported for the first time in Belarus. Camposporium pellucidum is also reported from freshwater environment. Some peculiarities of colonies, conidia structure and development are discussed.

Radioprotective affect of melanin on mice germ cell under acute and chronic irradiation. pp. 57--61.

Summary: The influence of melanin isolated from human hair on genetic effects of acute and chronic irradiation in mice has been investigated. Melanin suspension in sturch gel or gel were intro duced into the stomach of mice which were than irradiated with 3 Gy of g-rays from Cs137 source at the dose rate 29 Gy/min or 0.007 Gy/h. The levels of reciprocal translocations in spermatogonia were analyzed cytologically. It was shown that melanin itself did not possess mutagenic activity. Melanin application at a dose of 50 mg/kg carried out 3 hours before acute irradiation decreases the frequency of radiation induced mutation by a factor of 2. Melanin applications administered every morning at a dose of 1, 3, 10, 30 mg/kg during chronic irradiation were not less but even more effective as compared with acute irradiations.

Heavy metal cation influence on productivity and chlorophyll content in Euglena cells. pp. 65--70.

Summary: Influence of Pb2+, Cd2+, Ni2+ and Co2+ cations on growth and pigment apparatus of Euglena gracilis Klebs cells have been studied. Cell reaction depends on both investigated metal and its concentration in culture medium and time of incubation with alga cells.

Phosphorescence at 77 K of cardiolipine perocsidation products. pp. 71--74.

Summary: The phosphorescence exitation and emission spectra and the phosphorescence lifetimes of cardiolipine peroxidation products were measured at 77 K first. The nature of phosphorescent chromophores of cardiolipine peroxidation products was discussed.

Culture condition optimization during tissue culture propagation of Lilium. pp. 75--78.

Summary: Tissue culture propagation of Lilium (for the varieties of Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Science of Belarus) was achieved by experimental fashion. The best result was received on Mirashige--Skoog agars media, containing 0.1 mg/l NAA and 1.0 mg/l kinetin. Sucrose concentrating should be increased at the first stage to 30 g/l, at the second passage -- 70 g/l. Regeneration plants were adapted to in vivo condition.

Risobacterium selecting for agricultural plant inoculation. pp. 79--82.

Summary: It was condacted screening of rizobacteria isolated from rizoplane of grain cultures and from rizosphere of cereal grasses. There were selected four isolates, which possess complex of usefull properties: antimicrobial action, nitrogenase activity, high colonizing ability.

Melanin pigments of mycromycetes. pp. 83--88.

Summary: Activity of fungi belonging to Basidiomycetes class to produce melanin pigments was investigated. The best producers were Phellinus robustus and Inonotus obliquus. Copper ions, tyrosine and pyrocatechol stimulated melaninogenesis. Output of melanin at optimal conditions reached 3.5--4.0 g/l.

Determination of terephthalate esters by gas chromatographic method. pp. 89--90.

Summary: Gas chromatographic method for determining terephthalate esters in water using chromatograph Chrom-5 with flame ionization detector has been developed. The low level of detecting dimethylterephthalate, diethylterephthalate, dibutylterephthalate equals 0.0001% concentration.

Condition for D-glucose isomerisation by cells of bacteria Arthrobacter sp. and actinomycetes Streptomyces. pp. 91--95.

Summary: Conditions for D-glucose isomerization into D-fructose by cells of bacteria Arthrobacter sp. and actinomycetes S. viridobrunneus, Streptomyces sp.1 and Streptomyces sp. 32 have been studied. Mg2+ ions at 0.005 M concentration are essential in the reaction mixture for maximal glucose isomerase activity in Arthrobacter sp. and S. viridobrunneus cells and at 0.004 M for cultures of Streptomyces sp.1 and Streptomyces sp.32. Top glucose converting activity was observed in cells of Arthrobacter sp., S. viridobrunneus and Streptomyces sp. 32 at pH 8.0 and in Streptomyces sp. 1 at pH 7.5 in temperature range 70--75°C.

Adrenal cortex glucocorticoid function and complex formation capacity of blood corticosteroid-binding globulin after thyroidectomy in rats. pp. 96--100.

Summary: The condition of adrenal cortex glucocorticoid function and complex formation parameters of blood corticosteroid-binding globulin (CBG) were studied after bilateral thyroidectomy (TE) in rats. It was demonstrated that the blood plasma and adrenal corticosterone (K) concentrations as well as the CBG binding parameters were maintained at the control levels during 8 weeks after TE, with the blood thyroid hormones concentrations being significantly decreased (10--30% from the control). We found a statistically significant reduction of the binding sites concentration on CBG and a pronounced tendency to decreasing the K blood plasma concentrations in the cases of acute postoperative hypothyroidism (72 hours, 1 week after TE). The Data obtained suggest that the glucocorticoid function of the adrenal cortex is maintained within the range of control values after bilateral TE. Blood plasma CBG plays an important role in the maintenance of functional activity of the hypophysis-adrenal system in hypothyroidism. The possible role of thyroid hormones in CBG activity regulation is discussed.

Summary: IL-1b intraperitoneal injection are accompanied serum blood parameter variations which reflected functional alterations of antioxidative defense system, electrolitic and nitrogen exchanges, transamination and energetic metabolism too.

Summary: Changes in intraorgan apparatus, organ strome, and parenchyma during prostate gland involution developed parallel. Height structure-functional status of organ saved in regions, where saved functional nervous ends.

Dynamic of gastroduodenal bleeding distribution after Chernobyl catastrophe. pp. 111--114.

Summary: Between Belarus population from 1989 to 1996 period revealed permanent growth of gastroduodenal bleeding, that is evidenced about heavy course of ulcer disease.

Brean and roach gametogenesis under radionuclid contamination of Belarus water reservoirs. pp. 115--120.

Summary: The paper presents the results of histological analysis of bream and roach oocytes under radionuclide contamination of water reservoirs after Chernobyl accident. The oocytes degenerative alterations (changes of oocytes asynchronous growth character, oocytes resorption, changes of oocytes envelop structure) in the investigated fish were identified. It was shown that the alterations are bound up with the radionuclide environment contamination level and radionuclide concentration in fish tissues and organs.

The structure of carabit beetle communities (Coleoptera, Carabidal) in the pine plantation of the Bialowiez National Park. pp. 121--125.

Summary: The species composition, domination structure and biological spectrum of carabid beetles have been studied in the pine plantations of the Bialowiez National Park. Totally 36 species were collected in the studied sites. Some rare species for the territory of Belarus were found (Carabus intricatus L., Harpalus hirtipes (Panz.) and Pterostichus quadrifoveolatus (Letzn.)). The plantations of both ages was very similar with each other by the carabid beetle species composition (similarity index is 82%). Three species prevailed in both plantations: Carabus arvensis Herbst, Calathus micropterus (Duft.) and Pterostichus oblongopunctatus (F.). Zoophages are prevailed in the biological spectrum. The typical forest community has formed in pine plantations.

Taxonomic status of oistercatcher (Haematopus Ostralegus Linnaeus) in Belarus. pp. 126--129.

Summary: Subspecies status of Oistercatchers from spatially separated groups with contemporary rapprochement ranges in Belarus is discussed. On the base of morphological index (bill length) two subspecies H. o. ostralegus and H. o. longipes were determined. The fact of partly coincidence of subspecies ranges was established on the first time. Most probably intergradation will extend because of the existing trend of H. o. longipes to further expansion in North-west direction.
