By decision of the General Meeting of the Academy from November, 1994 it was renamed to the Council on Coordination of Fundamental Research. New Rules and a list of members of the Council have been approved by the decisions of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus.Accordingly to its Rules, the Council on Coordination of Fundamental and Applied Research is a coordination and advisory body in the field of organization, management and financing of fundamental and applied research in Republic of Belarus. It consists at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus which bears responsibility for development and coordination of fundamental and applied scientific research in Belarus.
