A constitutive meeting of the Interagency work group for COVID-19 vaccine development was held in the NAS of Belarus under the lead of Academician Vladimir Gusakov, the Chairman of the NASB Presidium. Leading scientists and experts of organizations of the National Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus participated in the event.

The members of the Interagency work group reviewed the developed plan of events for creation of COVID-19 vaccine.

During the meeting, it was noted that it was necessary to establish a domestic scientific school of experts for adaptation and assessment of existing vaccines and creation of new vaccines against potentially hazardous agents. A special attention was paid to the issue of creation of the domestic vaccine against the COVID-19, since strains circulating in populations depend on the regions. The group also considered a possibility of formation of an additional subprogram dedicated to scientific research of COVID-19 within the framework of High-end Technologies State Program. According to the meeting results, the group planned publication of the speeches in leading scientific journals of the National Academy of Science of Belarus.
