As you know, on October 19, 2020, a ceremonial start on the 13th Belarusian Antarctic Expedition was given at the NAS of Belarus. Ten participants went to the ice continent. During the 2020-2021 expedition, it is planned to complete the creation of the first stage of the infrastructure of the Antarctic station and its preparation in a year-round format. As of mid-February, a number of station facilities were installed and put into operation: a three-section control, communication and navigation module, an eight-section service and living module, a biological laboratory and a new diesel power plant complex. A snow-ice runway was prepared for intra-Arctic air flights using the international DROLMAN system, as well as about 30 kilometers of snowmobile routes. A new satellite communication system VSAT successfully tested and two-way communication with satellite NSS 12 was obtained. In addition, a number of new projects for the study of Antarctica are currently being implemented. They provide for the study of the aerosol and gas composition of the atmosphere, UV radiation, as well as the earth’s crust in the region of Base Vechernyaya. The monitoring of the ozone layer of the Earth, the search for promising areas in terms of the availability of minerals, is being carried out, the possibilities of using the biological resources of Antarctica are being evaluated.
