On May 12, 2021, the Republican Youth Forum “Intellectual Belarus” completed its work at the NAS of Belarus. The organizer of event is the Council of the Young Scientists of the Academy of Sciences. More than 200 young scientist, pupils and students from all regions of Belarus took part in the forum: winners and laureates of republican and international competitions, representatives of working youth in education and science-intensive spheres of the economy. The purpose of the event is to discuss and develop proposals by representatives of talented youth for solving wide range of tasks to build an intellectual Belarus.

The Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus, Vladimir Gusakov addressed the audience with a welcoming speech. He emphasized that today an integral system of work with gifted and talented youth is successfully functioning in the Republic of Belarus. The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, as the highest scientific organization of the country, is at the forefront of work with young scientists. To personnel, and especially young people, we pay special attention and paramount importance. At the same time, the main criterion in the scientific and innovation spheres is not so much quantitative indicators as, first of all, professionalism and qualitative potential. “It should be noted that all the necessary conditions for scientific and creative growth have been created for young people at the Academy of Sciences. The main thing is that young scientists get a chance to take their rightful place in any scientific and scientific-production organization of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus”, stressed Vladimir Gusakov.

«The “Intellectual Belarus” Forum is primarily held in order to determine the main directions of development not only of technologies and science in a country, but also a society as a whole. Today we see what transformations are taking place in view of digitalization in absolutely all industries, we note what impact this has on society and how young people are involved in these processes today. Students, young scientist, as well as the older generation are involved in this site. We are trying to reveal the main directions related to artificial intelligence and digitalization, education of the future, building a highly intelligent society – all this is very important for Belarus», said Andrey Ivanets, that Chief Scientific Secretary of the National Academy of Sciences, head of the Council of Young Scientist speaking to reporters.

The format of the event includes holding sections in panel discussion on topical areas of building intellectual Belarus: education in the context of the modern transformations, the economy of a highly intelligent state and digital technologies in public administration, the development of a highly intelligent society.

Within the framework of the Forum, from May 10-14, 2021 the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus hosted an Open Doors Week, during which one could visit the permanent exhibition of the NAS of Belarus “Achievements of national science – production” as well as scientific organizations of the NAS of Belarus.
