On June 8, 2021, the Grand opening of the XII International Scientific Conference “Microbial Biotechnologies: Fundamental and Applied aspects” dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the Institute of Microbiology of the NAS of Belarus.

The program of the forum includes an exhibition of innovative biotechnological products, where one can get acquainted with the latest developments by the organization of the SSPA “Chemical Synthesis and Biotechnology” and other large biotechnological companies; there will be a presentation of equipment for microbiological, biochemical and molecular biological research. Within the framework of the conference, a competition of poster presentations for young scientists will be held, proposals for improving and optimizing the training system for highly qualified specialists will be developed.

The Institute of Microbiology of the NAS of Belarus, a leading research institution in the field of microbiology and biotechnology, actively develops and implements biotechnology projects that are of great economic, environmental and social importance for the country. The institute’s developments are characterized by a high degree of novelty and science intensity, correspond to the world level of development of biological science, and make a significant contribution to the development of a “green” economy. In recent years, the staff of the Institute have created more than 70 original biotechnologies, the development of which makes it possible to replenish the domestic market with new types of competitive export oriented biotechnological products, which corresponds to the V and VI technological order and is aimed at solving complex problems of the national economy, medicine and environmental protection.

The Institute actively participates in the formation of policy in the field of industrial biotechnology, acts as the parent organization-executor of a number of state programs (subprograms), with the help of which breakthrough research in the field of microbial technology is carried out, coordinates the activities of the SSPA “Chemical Synthesis and Biotechnology”, including in terms of monitoring the implementation of the Development Plan for the biotechnological industry of the Republic Belarus.
