On September 28, 2021, the 34th meeting of the Council of the International Association of Academies of Sciences (IAAS) was held at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

It was attended by the presidents and representatives of the management of the National Academies of Sciences of Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts, the Kurchatov Institute Research Center (Russia), the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (Russia) and other leading research centers. At the meeting, the main results of IAAS activities for 2020/2021 were considered, issues of further cooperation in key areas of development of modern science were discussed. Leading scientists from different countries made scientific reports.

At the 34th IAAS meeting, the Guangdong Academy of Sciences was elected a new full member of the International Association of Academies of Sciences. The new full members (academicians) of IAAS became President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia Sagyan Ashot Serobovich, President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Zagorodny Anatoly Glebovich, Director of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research Trubnikov Grigory Vladimirovich, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Myasnikovich Mikhail Vladimirovich and Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research Gaponenko Sergei Vasilievich.
