Belarusian and Russian scholars will discuss contemporary problems of book culture

On November 24-25, 2021, at the Business and Cultural Complex of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Russian Federation, the XIV Belarusian-Russian scientific seminar-conference "Modern problems of book culture: main trends and development prospects" will be held, which is traditionally held under the auspices of the International Association of Academies of Sciences Scientific Council on Book Culture, Book Publishing and Libraries with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus.

The organizers of the international forum were the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library of the NASB, the State Scientific Institution "Institute of Sociology of the NASB", the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Federal State Budgetary Institution of Science "Scientific and Publishing Center" Science "of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Russian Federation and its Business and Cultural Center.

Scientists and leading specialists from academies of sciences, higher educational institutions, museums, archives, libraries of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Russia, France, Czech Republic will take part in the work of the seminar-conference. It is supposed to discuss a wide range of issues related to the development of book culture, writing traditions, text communication, the history of book and manuscript collections, the existence of rare publications. Among the main issues to be discussed by the speakers: interdisciplinary discourse of the science of books; hypertextuality as a typological property of a book; symbiosis of book and electronic cultures; sociocultural consequences of the transformation of book culture; book collections in the historical and cultural aspect. Scientists will discuss the impact of globalization and multiculturalism on various aspects of the development of book culture and library and information activities, consider book culture as a factor in the formation of historical memory; reading, including digital, and its transformation, etc.
The reports of its participants will take place in offline and online formats.
