The grand opening of the III Forum of Scientists of the CIS Member States took place

On November 25, 2021, the grand opening of the III Forum of Scientists of the CIS Member States took place at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. It is attended by over 150 people - heads and leading scientists of the academies of sciences and the largest scientific and research centers of the CIS, including delegations from Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan (on-line) and Uzbekistan.

The IX meeting of the Council for Cooperation in the Field of Fundamental Science of the CIS member states is being held in coordination with the Forum.

As the Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov noted, Belarusian scientists will demonstrate their achievements at the forum, guests from the CIS countries will also talk about their results. “We interact in all areas: from space research to materials science, agricultural problems, mechanical engineering. Attention is also paid to issues of ecology, nature protection. Belarus is developing the biotechnological industry, creating new developments in the field of electric transport, energy storage, so we will expand cooperation in these areas as well. The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus has been and remains universal, we work in various fields. Our achievements are appreciated, people strive for us to learn from experience", he stressed.

The Forum is stipulated by the Plan of Priority Actions in the Field of Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Member States for 2021–2022, adopted at a meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of Government on November 6, 2020. The event was organized by the NASB and the CIS Executive Committee with the support of the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Member States.

The main goals of the Forum: activation and development of scientific and technical cooperation of the CIS member states, an impulse to initiate new joint research, formulation of proposals for the development of innovation policy of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the formation of a system of international mobility of scientists and young specialists in the professional community of the member states CIS. Scientists will conduct a detailed analysis of the state and prospects for the development of fundamental science, work out ways to improve scientific cooperation in the digital era.
