October 7 at 15.00 the Central Scientific Library. Yakub Kolas National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (Minsk, Surganova st., 15) will host a presentation of new scientific publications of the Center for Research of Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Everyone is welcome.
A new monograph by the candidate of art history K.I. Remishevsky «The Enemy's Merciless Fierce Revenge!: Film Chronicle and Film Magazine «Savetskaya Belarus» of the Fiery Years (June 1941 – November 1945)» introduces the results of an in-depth study of chronicle film material of the war years, the results of newsreel creativity of front-line cameramen-Belarusians, the evolution of creative, production and organizational – managerial approaches in the documentary segment of cinematography in 1941–1945.
Scientific research, description, cataloging, systematization and introduction into scientific circulation of a large-scale film chronicle of the Great Patriotic War is a very urgent scientific task, since no research of this screen material was carried out in Belarus in the post-war period.
The publication details the author's methodology of historical and art history attribution of «undocumented» film material with the help of the unique wartime documents – camera filming and editing sheets. Fundamentally new information is given about the events that ensured the revival of the national film magazine «Savetskaya Belarus» in the summer of 1942, as well as the creative and production aspects of the work of the Belarusian newsreel studio during its temporary stay in Moscow (1942–1944).
One of the results of the scientific research was the formation of a collection of Belarusian film documents of 1941–1945, including film frames shot on Belarusian soil, as well as reports and essays by Belarusian cameramen filmed by them in film groups of different fronts.
The book of the group of authors consisting of Gorbushina I.L., Gudey-Kashtalyan V.G., Mdivani T.G., Tsmyg G.P., Konstantinova T.L., Sanyuk M.L. «The Great Patriotic War in Belarusian Music: The Memory of Descendants» is dedicated to the implementation of the theme of the Great Patriotic War in Belarusian composers and song folklore, the feat of Belarusian artists and partisan musicians on the battlefields and behind enemy lines. It examines works written both during the years of the Great Patriotic War and in subsequent times. The monograph covers all genres of composer creativity – operas and ballets, symphonic, vocal-symphonic and choral music, concerts and chamber-instrumental works, romances and songs. Both a panoramic review of musical works devoted to military topics and their detailed analysis are presented.
The tragedy of Khatyn and the music of V. Olovnikov, whose work is almost entirely devoted to the feat of the Belarusian people during the war years, form independent sections of the book. Much attention is paid to the partisan song and its role in supporting the fighting spirit of the defenders of the Fatherland. The book is provided with illustrative material – photographs of the composers and performers, scenes from opera and ballet performances, musical examples. The appendices contain important information about music and song transcriptions and audio recordings of partisan songs, as well as a list of the main works of Belarusian composers dedicated to the Great Patriotic War, the theme of the feat of the people and the Great Victory, which has no analogues in Belarusian publications.
Representatives of the scientific community, higher educational institutions are invited to the event.
