On October 18, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko received with a report Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov.
Anticipating the conversation, Alexander Lukashenko immediately gave a specific instruction: «In order not to have a report, I would ask you that we, somewhere, maybe in November, when it will be more free, in late November – early December, decide and hold an exhibition achievements of scientists of the Academy of Sciences. We can do it. You have organized this many times. Let's pick a good room. Not only for you to report on your successes, but also to show more people what we can do. And that science can do a lot with us». The President proposed an exhibition complex on Pobediteley Avenue as an alternative location for such an exposition.
A draft of the updated charter of the Academy of Sciences was also submitted for discussion during the meeting. Lukashenko remarked on this: «I like that you are following the path of debureaucratization so that there is less red tape. This is deadly. This is also a lesson from the Russian conflict in Ukraine. Only in a different dimension. There should be no red tape. Therefore, we will consider the main elements of the charter. And then, according to our procedure, I think that by the end of the year we must definitely approve the new charter of the Academy», Alexander Lukashenko said.
In the course of his report to the President, Vladimir Gusakov drew attention to the fact that the Academy of Sciences has ceased to be a purely budgetary organization. The work of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus has recently been changed in accordance with the instructions of the President, it is strictly organized and aimed at independent provision of financial resources. During the report, another important area that is under the jurisdiction of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus was discussed – the development of domestic cars, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles.
As Vladimir Gusakov told reporters after his report to the Head of State, Belarus plans to create a concern that will unite developers and manufacturers in the field of microelectronics. In general, Alexander Lukashenko supported this initiative of scientists. The development of electric transport is one of the topical topics that scientists are developing in the country. It was also discussed during the report to the President. As Vladimir Gusakov reminded journalists, the republic has already created both a passenger car and a truck «100% Belarusian development», and even a sports electric car. During the meeting with the Head of State, the topic of creating a Center for Experimental and Applied Virology at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus was also touched upon.
